I am pretty sure that all are aware of FaceApp. It is a blissful experience to see one’s old age face with this app. From celebrities to common people, all are obsessed with this digital age face app.
This is a Russian app. People are happily posting their digitally aged pictures on Instagram, Whatsapp, and other social media. But, what this FaceApp cost to them? It’s their privacy.
People do not know the fact that this popular app utilizes the privacy of its users. You might have noticed that upon downloading this app on mobile phones, you’re asked to agree with the app’s privacy terms. This issue triggered the possibility that by agreeing to these terms and conditions, Faceapp gets enabled to access all your photos and other personal information like your location and IP address.
Unfortunately, these rumors become even stronger when a software developer Joshua Nozzi warned people to be careful with this app. He also told that this app uploads your photos without any prior notification.
To verify these claims, a French security researcher- Elliot Alderson came forward. He found that FaceApp only uploads the selected pictures by users. Moreover, he also found that this app only grabs information such as device ID and device model.
However, to keep your information protected, you must do the following before downloading the app.
Read the privacy policy:-
Upon downloading Faceapp, you must consider all the privacy policy and found ok, then only you should move further by accepting their terms. Find out what information the app collects, what it shares with third parties, and how your data is stored and secured.
Protecting your data:-
It is a commonly acknowledged fact that free apps come with some flaws. These might bring some threats or virus along with them to corrupt your system. So, before giving access to these apps, always check what kind of personal information you are allowing.
Moreover, while downloading these apps, you might be asked to provide some basic information. Thus, it is advisable to provide fake information to any of these apps for the sake of your security like false DOB, location, etc.
If you want to remove all your data from FaceApp server, then the CEO of FaceApp- Yaroslav Goncharov suggest the method to you. You can send the request using FaceApp mobile app. First of all, go to Settings-> Support-> Report a bug with the word ‘Privacy’ in the subject line.
