Secure your system with hardware and software cleaning – Part 1

Cleaning the computer’s hardware and software is very important for several reasons. With the prolonged usage of computer and without its regular cleaning, several dust particles may stick to its body which affects its working.

With the regular cleaning of hardware, your computer will run smoothly and its longevity is extended for a few more years which can save time and money. With the effective regular cleaning, you move a step forward in saving your investment and your data. While wiping off the screen and empty crumbs from your keyboard, you are reducing its various risk factors by increasing its efficiency.

Due to the dust, your computer might be at risk of overheating which may cause damage to its internal part and your information as well. Thus, by regularly cleaning the fan vents and case, you protect your system from such problems. It is advisable to do the cleaning of the computer at least once or twice a year.

An average computer can last for several years, but thorough cleaning of hardware and software could extend your systems life by adding a few more years. Clean software offers tremendous benefits like protecting your data. Antivirus software must be updated to ensure that your system is virus-free and there should be no place for cybercriminals.

If you love a tidy home/room, then the same should be applied to your computer system. Using an external hard drive or cloud-based storage, you can clean your computer while keeping valuable data safe and secure.

Hardware cleaning-

    • Turn off the computer and unplug it.
    • Clean the outer body of the computer with a soft and dry cloth; if possible, try to use cleaning fluid which is specifically made for this purpose. However, your computer or laptop must be dry before switching it on.
    • To clean your keyboard, gently pat on its back and then with a cotton cloth, clean all its keys.
    • To clean fans, vest, and other accessories, open your computer mainly CPU and clean it with the help of a brush, compressed air, or cotton swab. Then, put back all the screws.
    • To detect hard drive issues, go to check disk tool and scan your system. This will show all the errors and will repair them automatically.
    • Continue power fluctuations may also harm your system. Therefore, an effective surge protector can save your system from such power surges.
    • It would be good if you may keep your computer at a well-ventilated place with at least 3 inches of space on each side.

So, this was all about hardware protecting and cleaning… Just scan your systems manually if you haven’t done before.
